Amber Waves of Grain

Wheat harvest could be my favorite time of the year! I have always loved when the wheat turn but don't really know why! It looks like it would be so fun to just run through, but those who know wheat know that isn't a smart idea! I stopped along FM 104 south of Kirlkand in Childress county and took these pictures.

A random though on things....I have recently gotten a new camera and am really getting into taking pictures! I really enjoy it and the fun things that I get to capture on camera! I am planning on taking the close up pictures and having them printed on canvases and using them to decorate around the house!

As I look at these pictures, I can almost feel the wind in my hair as I was standing there taking the pictures. I thank God everyday for blessing us with awesome sights like these and the ability to be free to enjoy them. Don't forget to stop sometimes, take a look at the simple things in life, and enjoy them!!

Combine City

For people who travel up and down I-40 west of Amarillo, you have probably seen or heard of the Cadillac Ranch. A gentleman named Stanley Marsh, III planted several Cadillac cars nose down in the middle of an old wheat field when the road was the old Route 66. This free attraction always draws crowds, complete with spray paint cans in hand. It is a pretty awesome sight.

It is good to know, however, that there is one of these type places for the agriculture in us all! On FM (Farm-to-Market for the non-rural people) 1151 or also known as the Old Claude Highway, a farmer had constructed what he calls Combine City. I pass by this Combine City on the way home to Childress every time I leave Canyon, but have never stopped. This time I did so I could take pictures! It is on a corner lot of a field separated from the road with a bar ditch and a rusty barbed wire fence. It is pretty awesome and is what I consider, one of those hidden little treasures of the Texas backroads! So if you are ever on FM 1151, take the time to stop and enjoy this wonderful display of agricultural art!

New Adventures!

Well, I have decided to join the blogging world! I look at it as a way that I can keep up with my friends and family and let them know what I am up to! I usually have some sort of crazy story to tell about some adventure that I have been on recently, so this will be a good way to share it with everyone!!!
